How to sign up
- Open the tutor app (app.teaching.co.il). If you are in the portal, tap "For teachers" at the top and then "Sign up for free".
- On the sign-in screen choose the "Sign up" tab. Above the form you will see "30-day free trial".
- Type an email and a password (at least 10 characters) and tap "Create account".
- You can also tap "Continue with Google". The button appears only when Google sign-in is active.
- After sign-up an email is sent to confirm your address (the link is valid for 24 hours). Working in the app does not wait for the confirmation.
If you already have an account, tap "Already have an account? Sign in" and switch to the "Sign in" tab.
The first wizard (3 steps)
Right after sign-up a short wizard opens. If you close it halfway, the next time you sign in it continues from the same place.
- "Let's get to know you - name and rates": fill in "The name shown to parents", "Rate for a private lesson (ILS)" and "Rate for a group lesson (ILS)". The rates come pre-filled (150 for private and 100 for group); replace them with yours. Tap "Next".
- "Your first class": type a "Class name", for example "Tuesday 4pm", and tap "Next". A class is a group you organize however suits you: a fixed day and time, a study group, or any other division.
- "Public profile": an optional step. Tap "Finish and start working", or "Finish and open the public profile" to fill it in right away. You can go back with "Back".
After the wizard: you land on the "Classes" screen, tap "Add student" inside the class, and then on the "Register lesson" screen you register the first lesson.
Free trial and what happens after it
- The trial lasts 30 days from sign-up, with no credit card. During the trial you are on the Professional plan, so you are also listed in the student portal if you filled in a public profile.
- To see how many days are left: "More" > "My subscription", in the row "Trial days left".
- If the trial ends without a card being entered, you move automatically to the free plan (up to 5 active students). Nothing is locked and your data stays.
- If a card was entered, the trial days are not charged. Charging starts on the days after the trial, in arrears, on the 1st of the following month.
- During the trial you can switch to another plan in "My subscription" > "Your plan". Details are in the plans and billing chapter.
Signing in and password
- Sign in: "Sign in" tab > email and password > "Sign in".
- Forgot your password: "Sign in" tab > "Forgot my password". Details are in the account and privacy chapter.
- After several failed attempts in a row you need to wait about a quarter of an hour.
Language and appearance
- The app language is chosen by the browser language. To change it: "More" > "Settings" > "Language" (Hebrew, English, Russian, Arabic).
- Dark mode: "More" > "Settings" > "Theme" > "Light", "Dark" or "Match device".
Installing the app on your device
Installing means adding Teaching to the home screen like an app: an icon, opening in its own window and no typing of an address. There is no app store and no payment. Your information is kept in your account, not on the device.
Where to start:
- At the top of the app a banner appears: "Install Teaching on your device", with the button "Install the app".
- If you dismissed the banner, it comes back after 14 days. You can always tap "More" > "Install the app".
- On Android, and on a computer with Chrome or Edge, the browser's install window opens and you only confirm. In other cases a "How to install the app" window opens with steps matched to your browser.
- On a device where the app is already installed and opened from its icon, the button does not appear.
iPhone with Safari
- Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of Safari.
- Scroll down the list of actions.
- Tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Tap "Add" in the top corner.
The Teaching icon is now on your home screen - open it from there like any other app.
iPhone with Chrome, Firefox or Edge, and also iPad
The same steps, but the Share button is at the top, in the address bar or the top toolbar of the browser. If "Add to Home Screen" is not in the list, open the address in Safari.
Android
- Tap "Install the app". In Chrome the install window opens; confirm it.
- If the window does not open: open the browser menu (three dots in the top corner).
- Choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".
- Confirm by tapping "Install".
Computer with Chrome or Edge
- Click the install icon (a small screen with a down arrow) at the end of the address bar.
- Click "Install".
No icon? Open the menu (three dots) and look for "Install Teaching". After installing, Teaching opens in its own window.
Mac with Safari
- In the Safari menu bar click "File".
- Choose "Add to Dock".
- Click "Add".
This option exists in Safari 17 and later (macOS Sonoma and later).
I opened the link from Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp
You cannot install from the built-in browser of another app.
- Tap the three dots or the compass icon in the corner of the screen.
- On iPhone choose "Open in Safari". On Android choose "Open in Chrome" or "Open in browser".
- Once the site opens in the browser, tap "Install the app" again and follow the steps.
Another browser
Open the browser menu and look for an option called "Install" or "Add to Home screen". If there is no such option, this browser does not support installing, and you can open the site in Chrome, Edge or Safari.
Common questions about installing
- I installed it and the app opens in the browser: open it from the icon that was created (on the home screen or in the app list), not from a bookmark.
- I need to sign in again after installing: you may be asked to sign in once, the first time you open it from the icon.
- How to remove it: like any app, by pressing and holding the icon. Removing it does not delete lessons or students.
