This chapter answers questions like "is this for me?", "what do I get?" and "what do I not get?". It is based only on what the system does today.
Who it suits
- Private tutors who teach students at home, in small groups or in fixed classes and want to know at any moment who owes how much.
- Anyone who today manages registration and collection in a notebook, a spreadsheet or WhatsApp messages and wants order in one place.
- A tutor who also wants new students in the area to find them (on the "Professional" plan).
Who it suits less
- Anyone looking for a system that collects money from parents by credit card. Teaching does not collect from parents: payment happens outside the system, and you mark who paid.
- Schools and institutions on the regular plans. A school has a separate product, Teaching School, which you can sign up to for free (see "For a school" below).
- Anyone who needs to issue invoices to students. The system issues invoices only for your own subscription to it.
- Anyone looking for a lesson calendar with automatic reminders for the lesson itself. The system registers lessons, and the reminders it prepares are about payment.
What you actually get
- Registering a lesson in a few taps: date, time and choosing the students.
- Automatic price calculation, private or group, by your rates.
- A collection screen that shows each student's open debt, so no lesson is forgotten.
- A ready payment reminder for WhatsApp, SMS or email, which you send with "send".
- A history for every student, with price editing, and cancelling and restoring lessons.
- Export of all the data to Excel at any time, even if you stopped paying.
- An interface in Hebrew, English, Russian and Arabic, which can be installed on the phone like an app.
- No commitment: you cancel or switch plans whenever you want, and charging is by the days actually used.
What it costs
- 30-day free trial, no credit card, on the "Professional" plan.
- After the trial: a Free plan for up to 5 active students, "Basic" 29.90 ILS a month, or "Professional" 49.90 ILS a month. All prices include VAT.
- "Basic" and "Professional" have no student limit. The difference between them is the listing in the student portal, which exists only in "Professional".
- Billing in arrears on the 1st of the month, only for the days you were on a paid plan.
- No annual commitment. No refunds for days already used.
How it works in the portal
- Students and parents search for free by address and subject, without signing up.
- They see only the area, a distance band, a rating and the description you wrote. Your exact address is not shown.
- Name, phone, WhatsApp and email are revealed only after a student asks, and a reveal shows only the detail that was chosen.
- A number of inquiries is not promised. How many students find you depends on the area, the subjects and the profile you filled in. You can see the number of reveals in "Public profile" > "Portal inquiries this month".
For a school
Teaching School is for whoever builds a school's timetable and runs its substitutions, and it is a separate product from the app for private tutors. The promise: you enter teachers and classes, collect constraints by email, tap "Build a timetable" and get a timetable that respects the constraints. If they cannot all be met, the system says in plain language what conflicts. After that it manages absences and substitute teachers, and every month you get a report of the substitution hours. The person who runs it is the teacher who builds the timetable, not a systems administrator. It has its own page on the site, where you can read about it and start.
Today you can:
- Set up a school: school days, periods a day and breaks.
- Add teachers one by one or import them from a CSV or Excel file, with Hebrew or English headers, in UTF-8 or Windows-1255.
- Define classes and subjects: periods a week for each subject and who teaches it. You can load hours from an Excel file, and define groupings and levels (a subject taught at the same time to several classes in different levels).
- Send each teacher a request for their constraints. The teacher gets an email with a link, opens it on a phone and writes in free Hebrew, with no password and no sign-up.
- Go over the constraints, fix and approve them. No constraint takes effect without an approval from someone at the school.
- Build the timetable, move and lock lessons, send it to the teachers for comments and publish it. A large school is built in the background, and an email arrives when the timetable is ready.
- Handle absences and substitutions: the system proposes substitutes, the school confirms, and the substitute answers from a link in an email.
- Get a monthly report of the substitution hours, as PDF and Excel, whose total always equals the detail.
Price and payment
- A school pays only after its first timetable is published. Until then it is free.
- After the first publication you have 14 days to pay. One payment a year, with a tax invoice, VAT included: up to 39 teachers 2,400 ILS, 40 to 89 teachers 3,000 ILS, 90 teachers or more 3,900 ILS.
- Everything is included: the solver, the emails, the substitutions and the monthly report. There is no charge per student, because there are no students in the system.
- The tier is set by the highest number of active teachers during the period. A change of tier in the middle of a year takes effect at the next renewal.
- You pay by card or by bank transfer. With a transfer, the school is unlocked once we see the transfer and record it.
- If it is not paid within 14 days the school becomes read-only: the published timetable stays open to view, print and export, and no data is deleted.
Privacy and data
- The system holds no student data at all. It keeps teachers (name, email, phone, subjects and grades), classes, constraints, timetables, absences, substitutions and reports.
- Each school sees only its own data, and the separation is enforced in the database itself.
- Teachers sign in with a personal link in an email, with no password, and see only their own page.
- Constraints written in free text are read with the help of an AI service from Google. The text is sent there for processing and may be processed outside Israel. The reading is only a proposal, and no constraint enters the calculation without the school's approval.
- A school can delete its account from within the system. The data is erased for good 30 days after the request, and invoices are kept as the law requires.
- Where the data is stored and who else processes it is written in the privacy policy on the site.
Gefen status
Gefen is the Ministry of Education's list of approved vendors. The registration of Teaching as an approved vendor in Gefen is in progress and is not complete, and the system must not be presented as a registered vendor. For now a school joins directly, from the school's own budget. I have no date for the end of the registration.
What is not there yet
- Import and export in the formats of the Ministry of Education systems (Mashov, Manas). The Excel export is Teaching's own format.
- Answers by email: teachers answer only through the link in the email.
How a school starts
- Go to the app (app.teaching.co.il), and in the "Sign up" tab choose "A school - building the timetable".
- Type the school name, an email and a password, and go through a short wizard: school days, periods a day and breaks.
- Add teachers and classes, write or collect constraints, and tap "Build a timetable".
- Send it to the teachers, collect comments and publish.
How to start
- Go to the app (app.teaching.co.il), and in the "Sign up" tab tap "Create account".
- Go through the short wizard: name and rates, and a first class.
- Add students and register the first lesson.
You can try everything for 30 days without entering a card. If you do not continue with a paid plan, you move to the Free plan and your data stays.
Questions that come before a decision
Can I move to you from an Excel spreadsheet? There is currently no import from a file. You add classes and students by hand and register lessons from now on. You can also register lessons on a past date, to enter existing debts.
What if I stop paying? The account becomes read-only or moves to the Free plan. The data is not deleted and can be exported to Excel.
Do the students have to use anything? No. They do not need an app or an account. Parents get a regular message in WhatsApp, SMS or email.
Can this chat open an account for me or change something in it? No. I explain and point to the right screens, and every action is done by you in the app.
We are a school. How much will it cost? One payment a year by the number of active teachers, VAT included: up to 39 teachers 2,400 ILS, 40 to 89 teachers 3,000 ILS, 90 or more 3,900 ILS. Signing up and building are free until the first timetable is published.
Can we try before we pay? Yes. A school builds and publishes its first timetable for free, and after the publication you have 14 days to arrange payment.
Are you registered in Gefen? Not yet. The registration as an approved vendor in Gefen is in progress and is not complete. For now a school joins directly.
Do you hold the school's student data? No. The system holds only teachers and classes. More in the "Privacy and data" part of the school chapter.
Does Teaching School replace Mashov? No. It covers the timetable, absences and substitutions. Import and export in the Ministry of Education formats are not supported yet, and the export is to Excel in Teaching's own format.
